Rob LeBlanc is a Canadian author, musician, visual storyteller, and the founder of Gravel Road Books—an independent creative home built for stories, music, artwork, videos, and ideas that refuse to stay inside one category.
Based in London, Ontario, Rob writes from lived experience. Years spent working in professional security sharpened his understanding of people, pressure, danger, loyalty, and the quiet decisions that can change a life. That grounded perspective runs through everything he creates, whether he is writing supernatural horror, emotional drama, spiritual fiction, military stories, memoir, or honest books drawn directly from the real world.
His fictional worlds include the dark mythology of Soul Takers, the psychological terror of The Nothing, the emotional history of Our Life, and an expanding collection of stories built around survival, sacrifice, faith, fear, family, and the consequences of human choice. His work can be brutal, heartfelt, unsettling, hopeful, and deeply personal—sometimes all within the same story.
Long before the books, there was music. Rob has spent years around bands, live shows, guitars, drums, recording equipment, and the controlled chaos of creating something from nothing. His sound carries the weight of dark country, Southern rock, heavy music, and hard-lived storytelling. Through original songs, Reaper Radio, video production, and visual experimentation, he continues to build experiences that connect music and imagery with the worlds found in his books.
Rob’s tattoos are more than decoration. They represent identity, memory, survival, and the belief that a person can walk through hell and still come out the other side carrying enough fire to light the road ahead. That same spirit lives inside Gravel Road Books.
CREATIVITY — THEN AND NOW
For Rob LeBlanc, creativity has always been hands-on.
Long before artificial intelligence became part of the conversation, creating music meant doing things the traditional DIY way: writing songs, playing guitar and drums, rehearsing with musicians, depending on band members, booking shows, arranging performances, paying for recording studios, sitting through sessions, rewriting material, experimenting with sounds, and finding ways to turn an idea into something people could actually hear.
The tools have changed. The creativity has not.
Today, Rob combines that same independent approach with modern technology, including artificial intelligence. AI is used as a creative and production tool, not as a replacement for Rob’s ideas, experiences, judgment, or imagination.
When writing books, Rob develops the stories, characters, worlds, scenes, concepts, emotions, and direction. AI may help organize large amounts of information, catch grammar and spelling problems, examine continuity, explore alternatives, or help polish material until it communicates what Rob intended. The final creative decisions remain his.
The same philosophy applies to music. Rob brings years of experience with songwriting, guitar, drums, recording, bands, and production into a modern digital environment. New technology can help experiment with arrangements, vocals, instrumentation, production ideas, demos, and different interpretations of a song, but the creative direction begins with Rob: the concept, the story, the mood, the lyrics, the choices, and the decision about what ultimately belongs in the finished piece.
Photography, artwork, video, and design are approached in much the same way. Modern tools allow an idea that once might have required a large studio, production crew, or significant budget to be developed independently. Rob directs the concept, decides what works, rejects what does not, revises it, and continues working until the finished result represents the world he intended to create.
That distinction matters.
Using a tool is not the same as surrendering the creative process to it. A recording studio is a tool. A camera is a tool. Editing software is a tool. A word processor is a tool. Artificial intelligence is another tool in an increasingly powerful creative workshop.
Rob does not ask technology to decide who he is as an artist.
He uses technology to help him express it.
The stories come from somewhere real. The ideas, memories, music, characters, darkness, humour, imagination, and life behind them belong to the person creating the work.
Technology simply gives him more ways to bring those ideas out of his head and into the world.
For someone who has spent a lifetime creating things the hard way, that is not the end of DIY.
It is the next generation of it.
Behind the work is a man who values family, loyalty, perseverance, and the people who continue walking beside him. Gravel Road Books is a family-built vision, with his brother Ron helping transform the idea into a permanent online home. And somewhere near the studio, his cat Oreo remains a trusted companion, occasional distraction, and unofficial supervisor of the entire operation.
Rob LeBlanc does not create from a distance. He puts pieces of his life into the work—the music, the scars, the humour, the darkness, the mistakes, the rebuilding, and the road still ahead.
Gravel Road Books is where those pieces become worlds.
